Chores & Your Trunk

We got a pool membership yesterday!! Yeah! I want to take the kids to the pool everyday. "We are going again tomorrow," I said to Dan. His reply was less than ecstatic. "What would you rather me stay home and do chores?" Of course that sounds like a better idea for the love of my life, who suffers from a phobia of the piles of clutter that decorates our house.

Today I felt so productive yet child-like. Damn I'm back to "do your work and then you can play." But I guess I should finally learn this so I can teach my kids. We cleaned the house this morning and went to the grocery before we went to the pool. I WILL make it to the pool as often as possible, so I guess our house will be in pretty good shape this summer! Girl knows how to compromise!

On a different note. As I visited my grandfather at the assisted living home on Wed., I witnessed a comical scene. I arrived just in time to see my grandfather walking to the activity room for "Old Advertisements". The activity director reads a slogan from a TV ad (Good to the last Drop) and the residents guess the brand (Maxwell House Coffee). She came to one that she didn't remember about putting something on your trunk to soothe. She asked the residents if they knew which part of your body was the trunk. They contemplated and discussed it with each other and decided it was the top of the head to the waist (almost right). Just then a younger woman, maybe 60s, in the back said, "No, no, no. Don't you watch TV. Those men on TV are always saying "look at all that junk in her trunk"...it's you backside!" She insisted despite comments to the contrary. All I could do was smile and laugh hysterically in my mind.

All About Willy

Since my friend Elizabeth got me started on this blog thing, it is becoming increasingly more addictive. Today I started to tell people that I know about my new found hobby (a.k.a. waste of time I should be devoting to laundry and housework!).

My brother asked if he was on there. Well, no. Don't we spend enough time getting our children together?? "Oh, I see how it is," he said. Soooo since I always want to get the last word in....
A few words about my brother Willy, Will, whatever.

He knows how to treat the ladies!

He's a poser.

He sets a good example for the kids.

He loves the babies, but wishes this was a girl of his own.

He can make the best of a dirty situation. (Super cool Pirate Room at the dirty swingers hotel in Florence, KY that I booked for us on the internet)

The only man that Coco cuddles with besides her Daddy.

The only one of my siblings that's made a male Dierking thus far.

He thinks that these kind of hand gestures are important to distract the audience from your voice when doing karaoke. Might I also suggest buying them another round!?

Again, poser!

He's not afraid of a lil' o' shark, when he's squeezing the shit out of it and clinching his teeth saying, "Take the f**king picture," with a smile.

This was fun. Will just let me know when your feeling left out again!!!! LOL!!!

Love you forever Bro!!

I finally get why my mom was so worried.

A friend told me to check out this blog for liz and matt, http://www.mattlogelin.com/. She died suddenly the day after giving birth after long term bed rest and standing up for the first time. So sad, and yet I couldn't stop reading. Pulmonary embolism, I thought that was what it was after my friends description. 60% of people die instantly, 10% of people die when their symptoms are misdiagnosed, I was one of the remaining 30% that find someone who figures out why you can't breathe, feel like you have a rock on your chest, and cough up blood occasionally every day. That was what I had in May last year. Pulmonary emboli, one in each lung. It makes me cry now to realize yet again how fortunate I am to watch my girls do gymnastics. Maybe I will try extra hard to be nice to my hubby today, despite the overwhelming urge to scratch out the eyes of anyone who dares cross me....that's the PMS talking. I am truly blessed to have a happy, healthy family to take care of every day. I should go cuddle with Dan...

This week Tess will be on a new gymnastics team. For the next year she will join the Show Team. She loves gymnastics and can't wait to go back to do more hand stands and flips!

Tess and Grant after the last soccer game.
Grant was the Most Valuable Goal Keeper.
Tess got the ball in high grass award...I can only assume they ment a lost ball in high weeds. She was new to the soccer thing this year, and spent a lot of time looking for bugs in the grass.
